Training and Learning Opportunities There are many learning and training opportunities for carers to take advantage of. Here are some details of training and learning opportunities. Read the brief description of each organisation and then click on the name of the organisation you are interested in to find out further details.
Brooklands College Surrey Home Based Learning - is a collaboration between the National Extension College, Surrey Widening Participation Partnership and Brooklands College in Weybridge, Surrey. The project is funded by the European Social Fund. They offer supported distance learning for carers and people with disabilities in the Surrey area. You can enrol at any time and study at home at a pace to suit you with a subject tutor from the NEC and a personal mentor from Brooklands College who will support your learning in your own home. You will have access to College facilities such as careers guidance, library, and an examination centre. The following NEC courses are available:

400385 The Karten Computer Centre offers a range of
courses and learning opportunities for physically disabled adults and
carers in the North West Surrey area. Short structured courses taught in
small groups cover topics like internet use, word processing, computing
for beginners or managing your computer. For further information contact
nextstep - nextstep’ (previously InTouch with Learning & Work) promotes learning and work to all adults aged 19 and over. Whether you want to improve your career prospects, get a qualification or just make the most of your job. They provide one to one help with search, CV workshops and careers advice. Connexions - Connexions Surrey is for all teenagers (13 – 19) and provides help with planning for your education, your caress or training prospects City & Guilds - "Learning for Living is a new online learning programme developed by City & Guilds to meet carers’ and former carers’ needs for training in personal development and confidence building. Learning for Living is designed to: · Support carers’ personal development by developing knowledge and skills relevant to their needs. · Help carers to draw up realistic plans for further education, training, employment and leisure. · Provide a fun an accessible route to other learning opportunities or even to employment. Learners will be able to make the choice between certificated learning only and undertaking a qualification. The qualification is equivalent to an NVQ Level 2.
