History

Carers Support Spelthorne is an independent registered charity formed approx 12 years ago, working for Carers who live in the Spelthorne area. We continually develop the services, which we can offer to our Carers, in order to help improve their lives. We do this in a number of ways including, having support groups, such as ADHD/ADD;  ASD;  and Aspergers.  CSS organises information and training days and is able to help with the completion of Benefit forms.  The Support Workers can attend joint meetings with professionals, with or without the Carers, and act on their behalf as an advocate.  CSS send out newsletters every quarter to all the Carers on the database.

Jacqui MacLean is the Team Leader providing support to all who work with her and is also our Parent Carers Support Worker, joining CSS in October 2003.  Jacqui supports Parent Carers who have children aged from birth to 24 years of age who have a disability and/or special needs.

Celia MacKay is a Support Worker and shares her job with Rayner Ward by dividing their client database down the middle of the alphabet, L-Z which seems to work well. Celia joined the organisation in March 2002 after having worked in nursing and for other charity organisations in a London Borough for many years.

Rayner Ward is a Support Worker and shares her job with Celia MacKay supporting clients with a last name beginning A-K.  Rayner joined the team in January 2006 having worked in both the voluntary and statutory sectors.  She has experience of disabilities and has worked for a number of years with other organisations supporting people with a variety of needs.  Rayner is keen to be as constructive as possible.

Julie Barrett is our Co-ordinator and joined CSS in April 2009. Julie provides invaluable back up to Jacqui, Celia and Rayner (support workers) not only by doing a lot of their administrative work but also by answering calls and giving support to the callers when they are out of the office.

Nicole Williams is our Carers Activities Co-ordinator and started with CSS in October 2010. Nicole organises outings and social activities for Carers
