Don't Forget To Register The Fact You Are A Carer With Your
GP As Soon As Possible!
The Primary Health Care Team will probably be your first point of contact
when you need medical or nursing help. The Primary Care Team comprises of a
number of people such as GPs, Midwifes, Health Visitors etc who are able to help
in a number of different ways
Your GP (General Practitioner) will probably be the first
person you contact when you or the person you care for faces a health problem.
The GP will be able to either prescribe medication or treatment to resolve the
heath problem or refer you onto a hospital or specialist for further
investigations or treatment. However, when you visit a GP it is worth taking some
time to write down the questions you want to ask. By doing this it will remind
you of the things you feel it is important to know. If you feel you need
slightly more time from the GP to discuss health issues it is always worth
enquiring when making the appointment if it is possible to book a double
appointment. You should also tell your GP that you Care for someone. GPs are now
able to keep records of Carers which will enable them to be as effective as
possible in delivering services to Carers in their local community. Click here
