Disability Challengers
Summer 2010

Disability Challengers are running ‘Have Your Say’ sessions for children, young people and parents at every Challengers scheme this Summer. They will be running activities for children and young people to tell them what they think, and meetings for parents and families at the scheme. These sessions are for families to come and meet Challengers staff and an opportunity to meet other parents. · Bookham Youthscheme: 3pm, Wednesday 4 August
· Farnham Youthscheme: 3pm, Tuesday 17 August
· Epsom Youthscheme: 3pm, Wednesday 18 August (Justine from Surrey Aiming High for Disabled Children will be joining Disability Challengers on this day)
· Guildford Youthscheme: 3pm, Friday 20 August
· Oxted Playscheme: 3pm, Monday 23 August
· Guildford Playscheme: 3pm, Tuesday 24 August
· Young Adult Scheme (Guildford): 2pm, Wednesday 25 August
· Farnham Playscheme: 3pm, Friday 27 August

Contacting Challengers in the Summer holidays:
To make more bookings they recommend that families call the scheme eader who will be able to give a quick answer about availability. Families can call the Booking Line but the team will only be able to put children and young people on the waiting list for the Leader to look at.To contact Challengers schemes while they are running click here – use the map to find your scheme and the full contact details, including the telephone number the scheme.Summer is a busy time for Challengers so if you call the Play and Leisure Team (01483 230 930) and they cannot answer your call please leave a message and they will get back to you as soon as they can.

Challengers Sunday Playscheme – book now for Autumn term

• Call now to book Challengers Guildford and Farnham Sunday Playscheme for children who have 1:1 support.
  

Over the next few weeks Disability Challengers will send families a questionnaire about our Sunday Family Days and Sunday 1:1 Playscheme to find out if it is a good idea and if families want Challengers to continue to open on Sundays.

• 27 November – all schemes closed for staff training.

New Drama and Youth Nights – call now to book for Autumn term

• New Drama project running Monday evening  starts September 6.30pm – 8.30pm at The Ark, Caterham. For more information or to book call the team now or email nataliewavre@disability-challengers.org  – as well as designing and rehearsing for a production they will be running behind the scenes tours of theatres in the Summer

• They have lots of spaces at our Challengers Youth Nights next Autumn across Surrey – Epsom (Thursday), Bookham (Tuesday), Caterham (Wednesday), Farnham (Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday) and Guildford (Thursday). Call now to book.01483 230 939
  
  Summer holiday spaces for sisters and brothers of disabled children
  
• At the moment most Challengers playschemes are just for disabled children. Call now if you would like book spaces at Challengers playschemes (children age 4 – 12) for all your children.
  
  Surrey Aiming High for Disabled Children Fun Day – 31 July, 11am – 3pm
  
• The lovely people at Surrey Aiming High for Disabled Children team are running another fun day at Auriol Junior School, Vale Road, Stoneleigh, Epsom, KT19 0PJ for disabled children and young people and their families. Activities include: Football taster session; Boccia; Mobile media bus; Animals to touch; Drama workshop; Entertainer; Face painting; and more.
