Taking A Break
All of us need a break from time to time. This is especially the case if you
are caring for someone a few hours a day or full time. You may need to attend an
appointment or wish to pursue an interest or hobby. You may need to take a break
for a few hours, a few day s
or a week or so. This need for a break may be on a
occasional basis or a more regular break may be needed.
Crossroads and similar projects
Crossroads gives practical
help to carers looking after relatives or friends in their own homes by
providing a flexible relief care service for the carers. Its aims are:
- to relieve stress on carers
and their families
- to avoid admission to hospital
or residential care of the person being cared for at home
- to strive to maintain a high
standard of care.
Crossroads is run by a voluntary
committee consisting of representatives from Health, Social Services and
Voluntary Organisations together with carers and disabled people.
