Support For young Carers an Inter-Agency Strategy For Surrey 2004 - 2006 (consultation document) This draft has been developed based on discussion at an inter-agency workshop on 6th November 2003. This was attended by 90 people from Health, Social Care, Education and carers’ organisations. It is circulated for comment and responses are needed by 26 January 2004. A second draft will be circulated in March with a draft Action Plan indicating how all the agencies involved plan to respond. Surrey Young Carers Schools Project (Information For Teachers) - The document provides information to teaching staff about Surrey Young Carers and The Surrey Young Carers Schools Project. The document also highlights some of the issues which some young carers face at school Surrey Young Carers Schools Project (information For Parents) - The document provides information for parents about Surrey Young Carers and The Surrey Young Carers Schools Project. Surrey Children's Services Strategy - The strategy is a recently agreed policy for involving children, young people, their parents and carers. This now means that children and young people will be involved in deciding how services are provided. Young Carers Resource Pack For Schools - The pack contains materials for Key Stages 2 and 3. The materials are designed as a half term (6 weeks) module of lessons to be integrated into schools’ existing Personal, Social and Health Education (PSHE) programmes. In addition to the lesson materials the pack contains background information for teachers and suggestions for supporting known young carers within school and through other agencies – a list of suggested contacts is included for this purpose. Should schools wish to extend the work beyond the lesson plans given in the pack, the appendices contain some suggestions for work in Key Stages 1 and 4. There is also an appendix relating to special schools.
