Raising Awareness of Young Carers With The Connexions Service

The Training Session has been developed in response to joint work undertaken by Surrey Young Carers Project, which is part of Action For Carers (Surrey), the Surrey Careers Service and CarersUK. The need to better inform those working with young people at their transition stage from school to further education or employment about the needs of Young Carers was highlighted by their own experience and that identified by a number of researchers and others working with Young Carers. The development of the Connexions service has provided an opportunity to offer guidance to a range of professionals working with young people, in order to improve their awareness of Young Carers and the difficulties they may face in choosing their options for the future.
